What the students say

Martina King
Studying CompSci at Medwards means youre immediately surrounded by a group of other women in compsci in a really welcoming and homely environment. At Medwards you become part of a group of 10 or so colleges who all share supervisions together meaning you more easily get to know a wider range of students, and have access to many more supervisors than at other colleges. Despite the notoriously tough degree, you can still make time for other passions and commitments – I spend almost every weekend sailing for the university sailing teams, and when I’m not in a boat I’m playing netball matches for the college or organising socials for the compscis as part of my role as Part 1A student representative.
My favourite part about Medwards are my flatmates – there’s nothing better than returning to the kitchen after a late-night library session to find freshly baked cookies lying on the counter. My friends at other colleges (almost all without ovens!) always say they’re incredibly jealous… We Medwards are known for our friendliness and supportiveness – whether that’s a shoulder to cry on, a head with whom to divide the academic workload, or a hand to give you flowers and spray you with champagne after your last end-of-year exam!
