Biography
Rob completed a PhD with Professor Bill Clegg working on crystal defects and how such defects control the behaviour of materials. He has since moved into a teaching focussed role at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy where he is head of Part III Materials Science (the integrated master's year) and senior examiner for Part II (the bachelor's year of Materials Science as part of Natural Sciences).
Research Interests
Rob's research interests lie in structural materials within the department covering physical metallurgy and mechanical properties. This complements his teaching interests: lecturing on metallurgical topics and coordinating undergraduate projects focussed on alloy design. As part of this he is interested in pedagogical developments and diversifying assessment formats.
