Biography
My research interests have evolved during my career, covering characterisation of solids by NMR spectroscopy, kinetic measurements on microporous catalysts, and understanding adsorption, diffusion and reaction in porous solids. I currently have a particular interest in data analysis methods for extracting physically meaningful parameters from measurements on process kinetics.
I have always been motivated by teaching as well as research. I lecture and supervise a range of modules in the Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology course. I have served as Deputy Head (Teaching) of the Department, as Deputy Head (Education) of the School of Technology, and contributed to University education initiatives. I was awarded a Pilkington Prize in 2008 by the University for excellence in teaching.
