New Voices, New Conversations
Recent acquisitions of the New Hall Art Collection (2015-2017)
This exhibition presents a selection of paintings from a group of artworks donated to the New Hall Art Collection in the period 2015-2017.

This exhibition presents a selection of paintings from a group of artworks donated to the New Hall Art Collection in the period 2015-2017. Ranging from childhood recollections to tributes to friendship, the thematic diversity of these works is captivating. A sense of intriguing variety is also made evident by the multiplicity of formats, the only feature shared by these paintings being their figurative nature.
This exhibition invites a reconsideration of some of the key questions at the core the New Hall Art Collection: Is gender expressed through art? What is the place of women artists in history? Are there common themes explored by women? The dialogue taking place in this exhibition encourages the viewer to join these new voices and their conversation.
Given that, with the exception of Sonia Lawson, all the artists featured in this exhibition are new to the Collection, these acquisitions are a welcome addition. Other recent acquisitions, currently on display throughout the college, include works by Gayle Chong Kwan, Erin Lawlor, Mali Morris, Liz Rideal and Rose Wylie. Please pick up a leaflet to find the other works.
