The Last Walk in the Garden
This painting is based on a photograph of two young Iranian women set within an abundant and blooming garden. On encountering this image, Soheila remembered a poignant and painful moment when she last saw her sister, at the age of 14 before she left Iran for the UK. This memory, that also took place within a garden, became imprinted on her. It is in the process of making her work that she creates a fictional family album that is at once a record of her exile and a universal image for all the families who were torn apart after the 1979 Revolution in Iran.
